I visited this shop on June 23, 2025, due to an issue with my car’s A/C. The front desk representative (a Black gentleman) told me it would cost $130 to refill the refrigerant, as it needed to be pumped and added. I agreed to this. While I was waiting in the lobby, an older man came in and told the front desk that he had visited the day before for an engine oil change. He was very upset and claimed the shop had used dirty oil, and he was there to complain. After waiting for a while, a maintenance technician came back with my car key and informed me that the compressor was not working, and that they did not check or add any refrigerant. Then the front desk representative quoted me around $1,500 to replace the compressor. I told him I wouldn’t proceed with the repair that day and might come back tomorrow. However, he still said I needed to pay the $130. I asked him what the $130 was for, since no refrigerant was added and the machine wasn’t even used on my car. He then said the charge was for diagnosing the issue. In my experience, most mechanics do not charge that much for diagnostics—many do it for free, or at most charge $60. I went to a different shop today where they diagnosed the issue for free and replaced my A/C compressor for just $600, including refrigerant. This previous shop I visited was the most expensive I’ve ever been to. They tried to charge me $130 just for diagnosing, without even adding refrigerant or using the machine—and then quoted $1,500 for the repair. Be careful! Always Google the average cost and ask clear questions before handing over your keys. Don’t let them charge you for nothing.
